*Tax Reform HR1 Fact Sheet
The President’s long-awaited release of his infrastructure plan earlier this week marks the start of a major effort by ACEC and stakeholder allies to secure passage of a major infrastructure package this year. While the President’s plan falls short in key areas – notably the lack of new, sustainable sources of funding – it also highlights an area of public policy where Republicans and Democats have traditionally cooperated, and represents the one major legislative initiative that has an actual chance of passage in 2018.
Our lobbying effort at ACEC’s Annual Convention and Legislative Summit will focus on this objective, with emphasis on passing balanced legislation that incentivizes private investment and P3s where appropriate but also includes robust direct investment in core federal programs that support critical transportation, water/wastewater, and other infrastructure needs. The infrastructure package will also feature regulatory reforms intended to streamline the delivery of a broad spectrum of infrastructure – from traditional transportation and water projects to pipelines, grid projects, communications and rural broadband.
We expect the legislative process to be well underway during the Convention, which means we need your active participation and help in encouraging ACEC’s “Citizen Lobbyists” to be a part of this effort!
We are once again planning to hold a special webinar prior to the Convention to preview the key issues we’re planning to take to Capitol Hill, which will be available for Executive Directors and Convention registrants. We’ll contact you soon with further information. We will also send you advance copies of our key issue Fact Sheets as soon as possible, and the Convention will feature our legislative briefing with senior ACEC lobbyists to further prepare our members for their Hill visits.
I and the rest of the GA staff are here to help you every step of the way – please let us know if you have any questions or if we can do anything to help you get started. Thank you for your help and involvement, and I look forward to seeing everyone in April!
