In the A/E/C industry’s battle for key talent, landing executives, practice builders, and other strategic hires has become more challenging than ever. Attracting the talent your firm needs to grow must be treated with the same vigor, tenacity and laser focus as pursuing a must-win project. In the candidate’s eyes, your hiring process is a proxy for what it’s like to work at your firm. Yet many firms are their own worst enemy. In this workshop, we discuss the “do’s and don’ts” of attracting a strategic hire to your firm. We’ll address critical topics such as finding the best candidates, selling the position and your firm with compelling talking points, executing a robust interview process, avoiding communication “black holes,” and crafting a winning offer.

Learning Objectives:

  • Recognize the most critical pitching angles to address when selling their firm and the career opportunity (and why this is a must)
  • Critically analyze a LinkedIn profile, including how to recognize compelling content and potential red flag
  • Design and implement a candidate interview process that’s beneficial to both the candidate and your firm
  • Understand five best practices and five pitfalls to avoid when communicating with candidates during the search process, including how to message the offer

Refunds, Credits, Substitutions, and Cancellations

To successfully access an ACEC live or on-demand online class, you must be using Windows 7 or higher.

For cancellations received at least 15 days prior to program date, ACEC will issue a full refund. For cancellations received between 14 days and 3 days prior to program date, ACEC will issue credits toward any ACEC online class, live or on-demand. Credits are valid for 6 months from issue date. For cancellations received 2 days or less before a program date, no refunds or credits will be issued. Refunds or credits will not be issued for "no-shows." Registrants may choose another online class or substitute attendee/s without penalty at any time. Contact education@acec.org for further information.
