Change issues can all too quickly evolve into claims and disputes. Riding an issue through these processes is challenging and stressful at the best of times, but when contractual procedures are not followed due to unfamiliarity, the challenges can grow exponentially. 

Join Kevin O'Beirne for an overview of the general changes-claims-disputes process for professional services and construction contracts, particularly the widely-used standard contract documents of the Engineers Joint Contract Documents Committee (EJCDC) and the American Institute of Architects (AIA).

You'll leave this 90 minute session equipped with best practices for managing changes, claims, and disputes, as well as a deeper understanding of:

  • How a change issue progresses to a dispute
  • The differences between changes, claims, and disputes
  • The typical change procedures
  • How to handle construction claims
  • Alternative methods of dispute resolution and ADR resources

Refunds, Credits, Substitutions, and Cancellations

To successfully access an ACEC live or on-demand online class, you must be using Windows 7 or higher.

For cancellations received at least 15 days prior to program date, ACEC will issue a full refund. For cancellations received between 14 days and 3 days prior to program date, ACEC will issue credits toward any ACEC online class, live or on-demand. Credits are valid for 6 months from issue date. For cancellations received 2 days or less before a program date, no refunds or credits will be issued. Refunds or credits will not be issued for "no-shows." Registrants may choose another online class or substitute attendee/s without penalty at any time. Contact education@acec.org for further information.
